CEAL Spring Symposium 2025
The Annual CEAL Spring Symposium exemplifies the power of interdisciplinary collaboration. By bringing together community members, service providers, government leaders, and experts, the symposium creates a dynamic space to discuss pressing issues, share solutions, and shape the future of healthy aging.
The first day of the symposium featured two film screenings: Town Square - Recreate the Past to Reclaim the Present and Join or Die followed by a Civic Engagement Fair connecting participants with local organizations that support lifelong learning, volunteering, and other opportunities for engagement.
The second day of the symposium kicked off with a resource fair, where organizations will share valuable information with the community. Keynote speaker Sarah Steenhausen, Deputy Director of Policy, Research, and Equity at the California Department of Aging, shared expertise on the policies and research shaping aging in California.
Following the keynote, there were two panels focused on leveraging social capital for improved quality of life and advancing technology for better care. The day concluded with remarks from SDSU Dean of Health and Human Services, Amy Bonomi, on the intersection of policy, research, and community health and the critical role that academic institutions play in advancing these important conversations.
