Center for Excellence in Aging & Longevity (CEAL)
Our world is experiencing a historic demographic shift—older adults are now the fastest-growing segment of the population. By 2030, the number of individuals aged 65+ in the San Diego region will double, with the greatest growth among those 80 and older. By 2060, nearly one in four Americans will be 65+, the 85+ population will triple, and the U.S. will have half a million centenarians.
This shift presents both challenges and opportunities. How do we ensure diverse older adults can age healthily while remaining socially, civically, and economically engaged? Addressing these issues requires adaptive leadership, inclusivity, and cross-sector collaboration to harness the “longevity dividend” — a potential 10 to 30 extra years of life beyond retirement.
CEAL leads initiatives to promote healthy aging through collaboration with healthcare providers, government agencies, nonprofits, philanthropy, and education partners.
